Contributions are welcome. If you are able to research areas/aspects of the BAOR on our behalf, your contributions would be appreciated and accredited to your name. We can also offer you an email address and a place on the team should you be interested.

For pictures/images, the following would be ideal:

i) Images of the barracks during the Nazi era
ii) Images of the barracks post war, whether BAOR or BFG
iii) Images of landmarks within the town where the barracks were situated
iv) Historical pics, ie Bielefeld Viaduct after bombing
v) Maps

Note - please add a description with each image.

For written accounts, we are looking for:

i) History of the barracks being built
ii) History of the camp in Nazi hands, what it was used for and which units were stationed there
iii) Local history, ie Bergen-Belsen or Stalag XI B
vi) History on when the Americans/British arrived in 1945
v) Details on the time spent in BOAR/BFG and role of your regiment (*)
vi) Details of any other regiments which were there
vii) Details of when the barracks closed (if applicable)
viii) Details of things specific to BAOR/BFG, ie non unit based; major exercises, British Military Train etc.

* This is a new feature, but we are hoping to attach a regimental history and role for every unit that served in BAOR/BFG to each location where it was stationed.

Also looking for any ex members of 11th Armoured Division.  The Black Bull went from Normandy to the Baltic during 1944/45.
