(1) Being retitled to 2nd Armoured Division Ordnance Company in 1977/78. I presume the unit was later renamed 12 Ordnance Company.

(2) Detachment arriving from RAF Wildenrath on 6 May 1983. 2 Squadron then arrived on 19 August of the same year. 31 August 1987 saw the detachment heading back to Wildenrath to join the Regiment, which then became united again - RHQ 1-2-3 & 4 Squadrons. Unfortunately on 15 May 1992, 2 (Harrier) Squadron was disbanded.

(3) Moving to Quebec Barracks in 1987 on the closure of Scarborough Barracks.

Originally named after Georg Leo von Caprivi, 24 February 1831 – 6 February 1899, who was a German major general and statesman, succeeding Otto von Bismarck as Chancellor of Germany. Caprivi served as German Chancellor from March 1890 to October 1894.

Scarborough Bks was also home to 1 [BR] Corps Vehicle Company RAOC from 1962 - c1968. The 2 parade grounds within the barracks were used as vehicle parks. I served with this unit from September 62 until Jan 65 and the other units sharing the barracks during this time were 15 [Tipper] Coy RASC and 12 OFP RAOC. The claim that Leslie Grantham [Dirty Den] served at Scarborough Bks is wrong. Leslie Grantham served with The Royal Fusiliers [City of London Regiment] at Quebec Barracks.

This was the home of 12 Ord Field Park , until 1977/8 when it became 2nd Armd Div Ord Coy. The camp was used as a backdrop for the Colditz tv programme and is also where Dirty Den from Eastenders served.

I was there in 1964. The barracks were situated on top of a hill on the outskirts of Osnabrück. Mostly cobbled roads in the camp. 122 (Tipper) Coy were in residence. While I was there, I think they changed to 15 Sqn RCT and were one of the first to get the Stalwart. The second building on your left as you went into the camp from the main gate was the NAAFI. Near the barrier in the Photo. Opposite, and facing the square was the Gym. The far end of the square, facing back towards the gym and the gate was the WVS. Many an evening spent there playing Canasta.

As well as the RAOC, Scarborough Barracks also became the home of an RAF Detachment and 2 Squadron, 21 Signal Regiment (and it's LAD) for a time. We moved there in 1983 from RAF Wildenrath, where we had been based. The Squadron provided field communication support for the Harrier Force based at RAF Gutersloh.
