I spent most of 1959 and a significant chunk of 1960 as a National Service member of the R.A.P.C., attached to the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards, stationed at Athlone Barracks, Sennelager. The Paymaster (my boss) was Maj. D.G.Connor R.A.P.C. There were 2 Commanding Officers during the time I was there: Lt.Col. J.H.M.R.(?) Tomkin, who was succeeded by Lt.Col. H.Walker. (Affectionately referred to as "Happy Walker").The Adjutant was Capt. Richard Keightley. R.S.M. "Jack" Clayton was also succeeded by R.S.M. "Nobby" Musk during the time I was there. I was Pay-Clerk to "A" Squadron and the Regimental Band, whose Bandmaster was W.O.1 Harold Vince. I believe the above to be accurate, but it was nearly 50 years ago.
